On Thursday, August 28, Champlain Township council formally acquired land near 461 Greenlane Road East, allowing for a future road widening project and officially dedicating this section as a public highway.
The acquisition follows the October 2024 approval of a property severance application, which created a residential lot surplus to a farming operation.

As part of the severance conditions, the owner was required to transfer land to the Township for the widening to meet municipal standards and ensure safe access for vehicles, emergency services, and potential future development.
Council adopted the by-law with Councillors Paul Burroughs and Sarah Bigelow absent from the meeting.
