Not only have a series of upgrades been made to the Vankleek Hill Museum in recent months, the 2025 summer season has been busy at the facility, which showcases the history of Vankleek Hill and the surrounding area.
“It’s actually been really good,” said Assistant Curator, Sophie Lauzon.
She believes visits to the museum have increased from previous years.
“We’ve had people come and say, ‘I didn’t realize this was here.”
Lauzon said people seem interested in exploring local history.
Students Baker Gauthier and Kristina Kelly have been working at the Vankleek Hill Museum this summer, along with Mags Duval, who has been overseeing the tourist information centre, which is also located at the museum.
Work at the museum is not all about historical interpretation. On Saturday, August 23, Gauthier was busy scraping old paint from the rear doorway of the building, preparing for a fresh coat to keep the home of Vankleek Hill’s history looking good.
