Community members continue to mourn the loss of a 13-year-old from East Hawkesbury who died following an all-terrain-vehicle (ATV) collision on August 10.

“Zackary Lecompte was a boy with a contagious smile and an outstanding hockey player, adored by all who knew him,” is how family friend Veronique Desjardins described him.

Desjardins is a close friend of Lecompte’s mother, Marie-France Grenier.

To assist the family, Desjardins established an online fundraiser.

“Every donation, no matter the amount, will be received with immense gratitude. And if you can’t contribute financially, simply sharing this post will go a long way,” Desjardins said.

During the Vankleek Hill Fair, the Eastern Prescott-Russell Minor Hockey League (EPR Fusion), was also collecting donations in memory of Lecompte. A hockey goal scoring game was set up for children to test their skills.
