The annual Fun Day in Hawkesbury is Saturday, August 30 at Cadieux Park.

The event is designed to promote a greater sense of community and belonging. According to a report from Town of Hawkesbury Coordinator of Recreation and Tourism Ken St-Denis, the decision was made to have the Fun Day at Cadieux Park this year to show what it offers the community. Several community organizations have already confirmed they will be participating with activities and displays, and the Town of Hawkesbury is also planning to use the event to engage with citizens about its new Parks and Recreation Master Plan.

The emphasis of the Fun Day at Cadieux Park will be to promote healthy lifestyles. Participating organizations include the RoadRunners Track and Field Club, Hawkesbury Junior A Hawks Hockey Club, Eastern Prescott Russell Minor Hockey Association – Fusion,  Pro17 Soccer League, Communaute francophone accueillante, Hawkesbury Islamic Cultural Centre (CCIH-HICC), COMZAK-BIA, Association canadienne-française de l’Ontario (ACFO), Conseil scolaire de district catholique de l’Est ontarien (CSDCEO), Hawkesbury Optimist Club, Hawkesbury Public Library Service, Hawkesbury Recreation and Parks Department, and the Hawkesbury Fire Department.

At the Monday, August 11 Hawkesbury town council meeting, Mayor Lefebvre and Councillor Jeanne Charlebois both said they are very pleased with the plans for the event.

Lefebvre added that he is particularly pleased to see an event taking place at another of the town’s parks.
