According to a social media post from The Nation Municipality, renovations are progressing well at the St-Isidore Arena. The facility contains the only indoor arena ice surface in the municipality.
An approximately $1.4 million renovation project is currently underway at the arena. As of Friday, July 25, the new brine tubing for the ice surface refrigeration system had been installed and the cement for the rink had been poured.
The next steps are the installation of the new boards, glass, players’ benches, and rubber flooring.
The municipality believes everything is on schedule for a planned reopening in September, in time for the next hockey and skating season.
The Nation Municipality aims to cover a significant portion of the costs of the arena renovations through a combination of reserves set aside for the project, grants, a $500,000 fundraising campaign, and sponsorships.
The rink and sports bar at the St-Isidore Arena remain closed for the duration of the construction. The bowling alley and community centre are available by reservation. The lobby is open during office hours, which are Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4 pm.
