As part of its ongoing partnership with the Clarence-Rockland community, Food Cycle Science has donated two FoodCycler units to Tucker House Renewal Centre, a local leader in environmental education and sustainability.

This donation reinforces the momentum generated by Clarence-Rockland’s 2024 FoodCycler pilot program and reflects Food Cycle Science’s long-term commitment to grassroots sustainability initiatives in the region.

Tucker House hosts summer day camps that immerse children in nature-based learning. With the new FoodCyclers integrated into daily camp activities, participants will experience first-hand how food waste can be transformed into nutrient-rich by-product used to nourish the very gardens they tend, bringing the concept of circular living to life.

“Clarence-Rockland has shown incredible leadership in food waste reduction, which I’ve had the privilege of seeing firsthand through my work with the municipality and its residents during their pilot program,” said Brigitte Kirady, Municipal Program Coordinator at Food Cycle Science. “Donating these units to Tucker House is a way for us to give back and help empower the next generation of changemakers. Their hands-on programs are the perfect setting to bring sustainability to life in a way that’s fun, meaningful, and rooted in community.”

Food Cycle Science’s work with the City of Clarence-Rockland began with a 500-household pilot program1 in 2024, which demonstrated strong participation and local enthusiasm. This new collaboration with Tucker House expands the impact of that initiative, deepening the company’s investment in environmental education at the community level.

The City of Clarence-Rockland recently released a presentation on its updated Solid Waste Master Plan2 and is currently reviewing long-term strategies for organics management. Residents are invited to view the presentation and participate in the public forum.
