Make hay while the sun shines, but there are fire safety hazards to making hay in hot weather.

On Wednesday, July 16, firefighters from all three stations in North Glengarry responded to a fire where a hay baler had malfunctioned due to the hot weather, caught fire, and the fire spread in the surrounding hay field. According to the North Glengarry Fire Services, the fire was under control quickly, despite the challenging hot weather conditions.

Temperatures in the region reached 33 degrees Celsius/91 degrees Fahrenheit on July 16.
