Waste collection and management agencies the Régie intermunicipale Argenteuil Deux-Montagnes (RIADM) and Tricentris are establishing a new, regional ecocentre to serve residents of Lachute, Brownsburg-Chatham, Saint-André-d’Argenteuil, and Saint-Placide. While hosting this new ecocentre on its Lachute property, Tricentris will operate and manage it for the RIADM under a five-year contract.
There was a previous household hazardous waste collection site at the location in the past, but the new facility will completely be redesigned, equipped with modern infrastructure, and designed to meet the current needs of residents.
“We are delighted to offer our residents top-quality service.” This new ecocentre responds to strong demand from our residents and demonstrates our commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development in our region,” said Lachute Mayor Bernard Bigras-Denis, who is also RIADM President.
This major project is made possible thanks to an investment of several hundred thousand dollars from Tricentris through its “Investing in Sustainable Communities” program.
“This project perfectly illustrates our mission to reinvest in our communities to create sustainable solutions, and we are proud to make a concrete contribution to improving environmental services in the region”, said Tricentris Executive Director Dany Dumont.
The five-year management contract awarded to Tricentris guarantees cost stability for the RIADM and its member municipalities, while drawing on Tricentris’ recognized expertise in ecocentre operation. Construction will begin in mid-July 2025, with the facility expected to be operational on January 1, 2026. The ecocentre will be accessible to residents year-round and will accept a wide range of recyclable and residual materials, from construction materials to electronics to hazardous household waste, with no interruption to current service during the transition period.
