There were two fires at two different pizza shops in downtown Hawkesbury early in the morning on Monday, June 30. One fire was at the Salvatoré pizza outlet at the corner of John and Main Streets, and the other fire was at the Pizza Pizza located in the plaza at 179 Main Street East.
According to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), officers responded to one of the fires at 4:04 am Monday. While at that location, they were notified of the fire at the other location.
Both buildings were unoccupied at the time of the incidents. The first structure was fully engulfed in flames upon arrival, while the second fire was contained and extinguished by the building’s sprinkler system. The Hawkesbury Fire Department responded to both locations. No injuries were reported.
Neither building was completely destroyed, but there was significant damage to each business and both were closed on Monday.
Pizza Pizza has been located downtown for several years. The Salvatoré location opened in 2024.
On Monday OPP)officers remained at both locations and the sites were cordoned off from public access.
Acting Sergeant Eric Ranger said both fires are under police investigation. On Monday afternoon, vehicles and investigators from the Office of the Fire Marshal were at the sites.
