According to the United Counties of Prescott and Russell (UCPR) Department of Social Services and Housing, there were 99 homeless people living in the counties during the month of May 2025.

Out of the total, 70 of the people were adults, 20 were teenagers, and nine were children.

The greatest number of homeless people in Prescott and Russell counties in May lived in the Town of Hawkesbury, where there were 48 homeless people. The second-greatest amount, at 18, lived in the City of Clarence-Rockland. Alfred and Plantagenet had 13 homeless people living in the township in May.

Champlain Township, East Hawkesbury Township, and the Municipality of Casselman each had two homeless residents in May. Nine residents of Russell Township were without a home during the month. Two of the individuals moved out of the UCPR.

Among the unhoused individuals, 31 adults, 17 teenagers, and five children were “couch surfing,” as described by the Department of Social Services. That means the people were staying with other people in their homes. Twenty-seven adults, three teenagers, and two children were living outside, and 11 adults and three children were living in other accommodation or motels.

The UCPR’s Homelessness Prevention Program has also recently provided financial assistance to 11 people, allowing them to prevent problems with landlords and/or utility payments.
