On Sunday, June 8, the town of Lachute held its Journée de la pêche (Fishing Day) at Parc Barron, along the Rivière du Nord. The annual event was part of the Québec Ministry of the Environment’s Fishing Festival, in partnership with the Fondation de la faune du Québec.
Municipal staff provided fishing bait and fishing lines as they welcomed residents of all ages to partake. As participants cast their lines, they were treated to live music by songwriter Léandre Desrosiers-Ménard.
Staff from the Leisure, Culture, and Community Life department were also on hand to inform residents about how youth under 18 could obtain a free fishing license.
