Fishing and fun by the Ottawa River and Grenville Canal were enjoyed by all ages on Sunday, June 8 at the annual Mayor’s Fishing Day in Grenville. Many individuals cast a line into the river or canal to try their luck at the special event that was presented along with the Club Optimiste as part of the Pêche en herbe program of the Fondation de la faune du Québec which aims to introduce more youth to sport fishing.
Many of the children enjoyed catching fish by hand from a large trough, while other families just enjoyed a relaxing time by the water. Mayor Pierre Thauvette and the village council were busy at the grill making sure there were enough hot dogs, courtesy of Casse-Croute Chez Dumont.
