The search continues for a woman who went missing in Rivière Rouge.

According to Sûreté du Québec Sergeant Marc Tessier, at around 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 1, emergency services were called to chemin des Sept-Chutes in Grenville-sur-la-Rouge following a report of a woman in her twenties missing in Rivière Rouge.

For reasons yet to be determined, the woman reportedly fell from an inflatable raft designed for rapids and then into the water. She reportedly did not resurface. According to initial reports, she was wearing a life jacket and a safety helmet at the time.

A search was conducted on the water for much of the afternoon and evening by patrol officers and the fire department.

As of the afternoon of Monday, June 2, police continued to conduct a search in the area near the river. In addition, a helicopter was deployed to support the search for much of the evening. An investigation is currently underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Hikers, mountain bikers, divers, and a helicopter were also involved with the continued search on Monday.
