The new Prescott and Russell Residence on Spence Avenue in Hawkesbury looks like it’s all ready for people to move into, but the big move from the old long-term care facility on Cartier Boulevard cannot happen yet.

At the Wednesday, May 28 United Counties of Prescott and Russell (UCPR) council meeting, The Nation Mayor Francis Brière asked when the move from the old facility to the new facility will take place.

“We are waiting for some permits, our occupancy permits,” replied Chief Administrative Officer Stéphane Parisien.

He acknowledged there is a delay.

Brière asked for more details and if there are structural reasons for the delay.

Parisien said the delay is due to electronic equipment in the building and there are no structural problems. He said a full update on the move and opening of the new Prescott and Russell Residence in Hawkesbury will be given at the Wednesday, June 25 UCPR council meeting.
