On Saturday, May 10, the city of Lachute hosted its third annual Environment Day across from the Lachute Ecocentre. Residents arrived throughout the morning to stock up on free compost, receive environmental advice from town staff and local farmers, and browse local vendor offerings.
Free bulk compost was made available to community members, though voluntary cash contributions to the local Army Cadets were encouraged.

Municipal staff were on hand to inform residents about the “A birth, a tree” program, which aims to boost annual tree planting in the region while encouraging families to register with the municipal library. Lachute staff also distributed water-saving shower heads to interested attendees.
Residents were also invited to talk and shop with local vendors and organizations such as Hill Head Chili Farm Inc., Ferme La Roquette, and Ferme Gypsy Queen.

Atelier FlorA, an eco-development company based in Lachute, shared its vision for creating spaces that respect nature, preserve ecological balance, and support sustainable coexistence between humans and their environment.

Bold d’air Pur, based out of neighbouring Brownsburg-Chatham, offers personalized programs aligned with individuals’ values and needs. They also provide eco-friendly vacation rentals called “éco-gîtes” and sell organic maple products including wine, vinegar, and certified carbon-free maple syrup.
Staff from the Société d’horticulture d’Argenteuil were also present to discuss their work and promote the regional seed distribution initiative, “Les semailles d’Argenteuil.”
