Listeners to 107.7 FM from Hawkesbury and 92.5 FM from Clarence-Rockland may have been wondering if something was wrong with their radio on Monday, May 12 when “Bye Bye Mon Cowboy” by Mitsou was playing over and over, then at a slow speed before stopping entirely, followed by a voice introducing a new name and new format for the stations. Nothing was wrong, it was all planned.
At noon on Monday, the name of the two stations became BIG-FM and changed from new country music to a mix of classic rock, contemporary rock, and alternative music. The station’s slogan is Playing…Whatever. The first song fully played after the switch was Welcome to the Jungle by Guns N’ Roses.
The format and name change were months in the making. In September 2024, GO FM (92.1 CHOD) announced plans to CHRC 92.5 FM in Clarence-Rockland and CKHK 107.7 FM in Hawkesbury from Evanov Communications. Evanov had planned to shut down both stations, but French-language community station GO FM expressed interest to purchase and operate them.
Both BIG FM stations will continue to broadcast in English.

Listening to CKHK 107.7. Good play list. NOT a fan of Country *or* Western, so the current Classic Hits/Classic Rock tunes are a winner.
