Ontario’s provincial flower was in full bloom in recent days. White trilliums were noticeable in many hardwood forests around the region. There appeared to be millions of trilliums in this forest near Vankleek Hill. The Ontario legislature adopted the wildflower as Ontario’s floral emblem in 1937. White trilliums in Ontario are protected by law. Picking them is prohibited, but it is legal to transplant them.
