An Alexandria man visited the city police station in Cornwall for one reason but ended up being charged with shoplifting in relation to a separate incident.
On Monday, May 5, the 36-year-old man from Alexandria was arrested by Cornwall Police and charged with theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on March 25, 2025, the man attended a Second Street East business in Cornwall, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the item. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On May 5, the man visited the Cornwall Police Service headquarters for an unrelated matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 12, 2025.
