At the Thursday, April 24 meeting, Champlain council approved temporary street closures for two special events taking place in Vankleek Hill this year.
Main Street East from Kirk Lane to Bertha Street will be closed on May 18 for the May Show, and again on September 7 for the Festival of Flavours, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both days.
Council had originally approved municipal support for these events through its 2025 municipal grant program, allocating approximately $2,480 for road closures, first aid stations, and garbage collection.
The street closure dates and locations were requested by local event organizer Excellent Events.
Council unanimously approved the closures without further discussion, although Councillors Ginette Clément and Sarah Bigelow were absent from the meeting.
