On Monday, March 24, North Glengarry council unanimously approved the purchase of a mobile stage that will be used for community events, including Meet Me on Main Street and Canada Day celebrations. The mobile stage trailer will cost the township $44,774 inclusive of HST and delivery.
During 2025 budget deliberations, council directed staff to set aside $20,000 for the purchase of a stage to support outdoor community events. Additional funding will be provided by the Alexandria Lions Club and the township’s recreation reserve, though the exact amounts have not been determined. However, funds used from the recreation reserve will not exceed $10,000.
Staff informed council that setting up the stage would take approximately 30 minutes and that it includes an awning for weather protection.
The customized 20-foot stage includes a rear door for a ramp, awning, steps, and railings, and can be towed with existing Recreation Department vehicles. It measures 7.5 feet wide.
Staff explained that an unidentified local vendor who specializes in trailer sales from Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry (SDG) Counties will be supplying the mobile stage trailer at a competitive cost. The township has previously purchased trailers from this vendor.
Deputy Mayor Carma Williams inquired as to when the township could receive the mobile stage trailer.
Staff stated that the trailer could be delivered within several days, allowing the township to use it for upcoming summer events and festivities. Additionally, the stage trailer could serve as a revenue opportunity through advertising and rentals.
