Sûreté du Québec officers in Argenteuil recently made two arrests after a narcotics search and seizure in Lachute.

On Wednesday, February 12, police officers searched a home on rue de l’Église in Lachute.

A 61-year-old man was arrested on the scene and later released. He will have to appear in court at a later date in Saint-Jérôme, where he could face charges related to narcotics, illicit cannabis and prohibited weapon offences.

A 50-year-old man was also arrested on the scene and later released. He will have to appear in court at a later date in Saint-Jérôme, where he could face charges related to narcotics, obstructing a peace officer, offences under the Income Tax and Tobacco Act and breach of condition.

During search operation, the police seized:

  • More than 5 grams of cocaine;
  • More than 10 methamphetamine tablets;
  • More than 240 prescription medication tablets;
  • 500ml of methadone;
  • More than $160 in Canadian currency;
  • More than 40 contraband cigarettes

The operation stems from an investigation initiated following information received from the public.
