The Eastern Ontario Agri-Food Network (EOAN) is promoting its hyper-local network of more than 150 small scale food producers as a way to support all-Canadian products.
“As a farmer and small scale producer, this message is quite important for my family and my region, especially in these uncertain times,” added Sylviane Dutrisac, Ferme Butte & Bine Farm owner and EOAN President. “It doesn’t get more local than your own backyard and we want people in the region to know the Network is here to ensure you get local quality goods.”
The Network has been around since 2010 with its non-profit mandate to support local producers in Eastern Ontario, mainly in the Prescott-Russell, Stormont Dundas & Glengarry, Cornwall, and the Ontario portion of Akwesasne. The products include exotic fruits, vegetables, local meats and cheeses (including non-dairy alternatives), award-winning beer, wine and spirits.
“We can all agree buying local helps everyone in the community. We want to make it easy for folks to buy local and feel better about their food and drink choices,” added Eric Collard, Executive Director of EOAN. “Our website (https://savoureaston.ca/) has tons of info to get started on your hyper-local journey, and most of our members are within 100 kilometres of major centres like Ottawa and Montréal.”
