The Musée régionale d’Argenteuil Regional Museum has a new Director.

Robert Simard has taken over the position following the departure of Jean-Christophe St-James who left the museum for a different professional opportunity. St-James had served as museum director since April, 2024.

Simard has already been involved with the museum as a historian, project manager and facilitator for the past 15 years. He will be responsible for implementing the museum’s recovery plan as well as its accreditation process for recognition by the Ministère de la culture et des communications du Québec (MCCQ).

“The Museum’s Board of Directors is fortunate to welcome Mr. Simard as director,” said Museum President, Luc Lépine. “Robert is a valuable collaborator who has participated in most of our projects, including exhibitions, special projects and activities for the general public and school groups over the past fifteen years,” Lépine added.

Under St-James’ direction, the museum resumed its operations during the 2024 summer season with the opening of its new location at the former Christ Church in Saint-André-d’Argenteuil.

“I am pleased to take over from Jean-Cristophe to ensure the success of the museum’s recovery plan and to undertake the accreditation process with the MCCQ. This professional recognition will facilitate access to numerous funding programs and expert advisors to ensure the development and sustainability of our organization, Simard said.

He said the continued recovery of the museum and accreditation will help establish it as a key cultural player in Argenteuil and the Laurentians.

The summer of 2025 will see the reopening of the museum at Christ Church with a new temporary exhibition and special programming. In addition, the museum will participate in various events organized by local municipalities, including the Fête du bon voisinage in Saint-André-d’Argenteuil on June 7. The year will conclude with a special fundraising event in November, with the theme of a casino from the Roaring Twenties.
