Many property owners in Brownsburg-Chatham will see a decrease in their property tax bills in 2025.

On Tuesday, December 10, council adopted the 2025 municipal budget. It contains $19,463,000 allocated for operating expenses, which is an increase of 4.47 per cent from 2024. However, due to growth in property values and residential development in Brownsburg-Chatham, some property owners may see their property taxes decrease by up to 1.8 per cent. There has been a three per cent increase in taxable property value and the creation of approximately 150 new housing units across the territory of the municipality.

The potential 1.8 per cent decrease equals the 1.8 per cent Consumer Price Index for the Montréal region as of September 2024.

The town is committed to investing $37,135,599 in its three-year capital expenditure program to pursue major projects, including the construction of a new fire station, the modernization of the Gilles-Lupien Arena and the improvement of municipal infrastructure.

“In 2025, we will continue our efforts to make Brownsburg-Chatham a great place to live. Our priorities remain clear: attracting young families, diversifying and enhancing our recreational offerings, and modernizing our infrastructure to support the development of our community,” Mayor Kévin Maurice said.
