Bruno wins, Bruneau loses.
Hawkesbury council has adopted a bylaw changing a couple of street names in town.
Bruneau Street, a planned street in the west end which has not yet been constructed, has been renamed Christophe Street.
Council adopted that name change for 911 emergency dispatch purposes because Bruneau could have been confused with streets of the same or similar-sounding name in other municipalities across Prescott and Russell counties.
For example, there is a Bruno Street, which begins at Highway 17 at the intersection with Tupper Street. The north side of the highway is in Hawkesbury and the south side, where Bruno Street is located, is in Champlain Township.
Pilon Street in the west end is also being changed to Auger Street to reduce potential confusion of emergency dispatching.
The Town of Hawkesbury is notifying property owners on what is now Auger Street of the name change.
