Two projects have won inclusion in the 2025 Participatory Budget for the city of Lachute.

A total of 448 people participated in this year’s online vote, which closed November 27.

“Once again, citizens submitted projects that were as diverse as they were interesting for this third edition of the participatory budget and we would like to thank everyone who took part in the voting period. As announced, the municipal team will carry out the winning projects in 2025, for the benefit of the entire population,” said Mayor Bernard Bigras-Denis.

The winning projects are the addition of an interpretive trail to Boisé Bourbonnière, with signage identifying the native plants, birds, mushrooms and insects found there. The trail will be decorated with rustic-style furniture, made from reclaimed wood. The goal of this initiative is to introduce people to the woods, which were recently acquired by the city.

The second project is improving rue Principale in the downtown area as a greenspace, at the corner of rue Water and rue Bellingham. Honeycomb pavement, allowing the insertion of vegetation, will promote the filtration of runoff water and add a green touch. This eco-responsible choice will contribute to the sustainable management of rainwater and the beautification of the neighborhood.
