Scotiabank in Vankleek Hill is offering customers an easy way to help feed local families this Christmas. A unique Christmas tree, made from cutouts of the outlines of students’ hands at École élémentaire catholique St-Grégoire in Vankleek Hill and École élémentaire catholique Curé Labrosse in St-Eugène is on display inside the bank. Customers can select a dollar amount from one of the balls displayed on the tree and take it to a teller to make a monetary donation to the Vankleek Hill Food Bank. Scotiabank is matching each donation.

Food Bank Director Géneviève Paquette said all donations will go towards the food bank’s Holiday Hamper Program, which offers more home-cooked food than in the regular monthly hampers. Paquette said demand at the food bank has increased by 18 per cent this year.

Tax receipts will be issued for donations of $20 and greater.
