After eight months of fundraising, the Prescott and Russell Residence Foundation has presented $250,000 to the Prescott and Russell Residence. The funds are what have so far been raised from the foundation’s Lift Me Up! Campaign which began in April 2024. The funds will be used to purchase 110 Maxi Sky lifts for resident rooms at the new facility in Hawkesbury to make it much easier for immobile residents to safely get in and out of bed, and to make that task much safer and easier for Residence staff.
The official cheque presentation took place on Wednesday, November 27 at the United Counties of Prescott and Russell (UCPR) council meeting in L’Orignal.
“We are incredibly grateful for the community’s support and the dedication of our donors,” said Foundation Chair Denise Robitaille.
“The generosity of Prescott-Russell Residence Foundation and its supporters is truly inspiring. This contribution will enable us to provide state-of-the art equipment, ensuring our residents receive the best possible care and support,” said Prescott and Russell Residence Administrator Eric Larocque.
Individuals, businesses, and community groups from across the UCPR have contributed to the campaign during the past eight months.
“Our goal remains at $1 million to ensure every room is equipped,” Robitaille said.
UCPR Warden Normand Riopel said the campaign is a great initiative and shows the community recognizes the importance of the facility.
The new Prescott and Russell Residence on Spence Avenue in Hawkesbury is nearly ready to begin receiving residents and will officially open in 2025. The new 224-bed facility will replace the current Residence on Cartier Boulevard.
