Chevaliers de Colomb Council 3188 in Grenville held the village’s annual guignolée on Saturday, November 30 and Sunday, December 1. Volunteers spent both days collecting cash donations from passing vehicles at selected intersections, while in the basement of Église Notre-Dame-des-Sept Douleurs, the volunteers were busy counting the donations of cash and food items which had been dropped off.
“We had a really good guignolée,” said Grand Chevalier Mario Bertrand.
Vicky Kennedy has been volunteering at the Grenville guignolée for 15 years.
“It’s a family tradition,” she said.
Kennedy became involved through her stepfather Pierre Backx and mother, Lyne-Anne Kennedy.
“All the family volunteers every year,” she said.
All of the items collected at the Grenville Guignolée will be distributed to community residents in need.
