The success of the Prescott and Russell Residence Foundation’s Lift Me Up! Campaign means the United Counties of Prescott and Russell (UCPR) has been able to go ahead and purchase 97 ceiling lift motors for resident rooms at the new Residence, which is nearly complete in Hawkesbury.
UCPR council approved the $250,000 purchase on Wednesday, October 23.
In March 2024, the Prescott and Russell Residence Foundation launched the Lift Me Up! fundraising campaign to fund the purchase of 204 “Maxi Sky” ceiling lift motors for the new Prescott and Russell Residence over a three-year period. Since then, many individuals, businesses, and community organizations have made financial contributions to the campaign. At the end of the first year of the campaign, the foundation offered an early contribution of $250,000 for the immediate purchase of 97 ceiling lift motors at an approximate cost of $2,580 each. The ceiling lift motors are seen as essential equipment for improving the safety and mobility of residents, as well as preventing injuries to staff.
The purchase of the lift motors was not in the 2024 UCPR budget, but the contribution from the foundation is covering the entire cost.
“This is a good announcement,” UCPR Warden Normand Riopel said.
Council unanimously approved the immediate purchase of the 97 lift motors.
