Prank phone calls to the police are not funny.

On Monday, October 21, the Hawkesbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment received three 911 calls, supposedly from a woman in distress. The calls led to an emergency response from police, firefighters, and paramedics.

An investigation revealed the calls were pranks and had been made by children travelling on a school bus. Police warned the youths and educated them about the criminal consequences of public mischief.

The OPP reminds the public that calling 911 is for emergencies where immediate assistance is needed.
