A man has pleaded guilty in connection with allegations of false representative banking fraud across Québec.
According to the Sûreté du Québec, victims of the fraud are from 29 towns and cities, including Lachute.
The suspect, Jean-François Gagnon, is linked to 53 alleged incidents since January, 2023. In nine months, 55 vulnerable victims, with an average age of 80, were robbed of more than $200,000. The Sûreté du Québec was one of 26 police forces involved in the various cases.
Gagnon’s guilty plea was registered in court in Trois-Rivières.
