Paving projects on two major roads in Grenville-sur-la-Rouge will soon begin and be completed before winter.
At a special meeting of Grenville-sur-la-Rouge council on Tuesday, September 24, two contracts were awarded for paving. A contract for $2,230,179 plus sales taxes using funds the municipality received from the Québec government will pave chemin de la Rivière-Rouge from the VEO water bottling plant to one kilometre south of the chemin Harrington intersection. This section of road is already paved but is in poor condition.
A contract for $1,221,194.11 plus sales taxes was awarded for paving on chemin Harrington between chemin de la Rivière-Rouge and the Rivington Bridge.
Each of the paving contracts includes a 10 per cent contingency allowance in case of unexpected cost increases.
Grenville-sur-la-Rouge is also planning for upcoming reconstruction work on a section of chemin Walker. Council has awarded a contract for up to $25,000 to Yvon Simoneau to provide engineering services associated with the project.
