A Morin Heights resident was recently arrested for alleged drug-related offences in Lachute.

At around 1 a.m. on Thursday, September 26, Sûreté du Québec police officers stopped a vehicle for a check under the Highway Safety Code on rue Gougeon in Lachute. During the intervention, the police officers noted that the suspect had conditions not to consume alcohol and drugs.

Police arrested the driver. The 35-year-old man from Morin-Heights was taken to the hospital to provide a blood sample. He remained in custody and was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, September 26 in Saint-Jérôme. He could face charges of failure to comply with an undertaking. He could also face charges of driving while impaired by drugs following the results of the blood sample. The suspect is a repeat offender for impaired driving.

The suspect’s vehicle was towed and he was also fined $529 for not having compulsory liability insurance.
