Summer reading was in full swing these past few months with the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry libraries seeing over 1,000 total attendees during their summer youth programs.
Throughout the seven weeks of youth programming, the 15 library branches of SDG, including those in Alexandria and Maxville, hosted programs for youth in the counties. This included programs and reading challenges such as the TD Summer Reading Club (TDSRC) that ran from July 3 through August 16. The TDSRC totalled 395 participants.
For youth aged 13 to 18, the Teen Summer Reading Challenge had 34 registered participants, completing over 100 activities overall. Prizes were awarded to participants once they completed three activity squares out of nine.
SDG libraries hosted a total of 82 programs, welcoming 687 attendees in August alone.
Lastly, SDG libraries reported 193 new library patron registrations, 27 of which were completed online through their website, https://www.sdglibrary.ca/join/. Anyone who has still not registered for access to the wide variety of services and materials available through the libraries is encouraged to enrol either in-person or online.
