Hawkesbury’s busy shopping area near Highway 17 is growing again and local shoppers will have a new place to buy groceries.

Harden, which owns the Plaza Hawkesbury shopping centre fronting Highway 17 between Cameron and Tupper streets, has announced that Phase III of Plaza Hawkesbury is officially in the planning stages, with construction expected to begin soon.

The new phase will add 45,000 square feet of retail space to the shopping center. Among the first tenants will be Food Basics, the discount supermarket brand of Metro, which has stores across Ontario. A Domino’s Pizza will also be part of the development.

According to Harden illustrations, the Food Basics store entrance will front the parking area between the existing LCBO store and Tupper Street. The Domino’s Pizza will be located in a building facing the parking area and Tupper Street. According to Harden documents, there are still 9,000 square feet of retail space available in the building where the Domino’s Pizza will be situated.
