The Vankleek Hill Cougars will open their 2024-2025 National Capital Junior Hockey League (NCJHL) regular season this Saturday evening (September 21) with an important local match-up, as they host their cross-county rivals, the St-Isidore Eagles.

The Cougars have high hopes for the 2024-2025 season, with a number of returning veterans and many promising newcomers added to a squad which made it to the NCJHL finals last season.

In their final contest of the preseason, Reid Cunning and Johnny Kirby each scored twice, Seb Ouimet added a single, and Garrett Cunning recorded two assists, as the Cougars split a 5-5 draw with the Almonte Inferno on Sunday afternoon (September 15) in Vankleek Hill. The Cougars ended their three-game exhibition schedule with a 1-1-1 record.

Puck drop for the NCJHL season opener between the Cougars and St-Isidore Eagles at the Vankleek Hill Community Centre is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
