The annual Fall Harvest Festival is on Sunday, September 8 at the Glengarry Pioneer Museum and there is now another way to play the Cow Pie 50/50 Raffle at the event.
The public may now purchase tickets online. The cow-powered draws will still take place on the day of the festival, but now people won’t have to scramble at the last minute to find a ticket.
“Even if folks can’t make it to the Fall-Fest, they can still support this museum fundraiser by buying a ticket or two,” said event organizer James Joyce.
There will be two draws, with a maximum of 225 tickets per draw. So, if all 225 tickets for a draw are sold, the winner’s half of the pot would be $1,125. “That’s a fair bit of moo-la,” quipped Joyce.
Never seen a ‘cow pie’ raffle? Here’s how it works. Instead of drawing the winning number out of a hat, a cow’s digestive system picks the winner in an enclosure that has a grid with 225 numbered squares. She is given 60 minutes to make her choice. Whichever square she deposits on is the winning number.
The winners do not have to attend the festival. The museum will contact them by phone or email. Tickets are only $10 and are available through the museum web site: GlengarryPioneerMuseum.ca.
