A house fire in Grenville sent one person to hospital and the cause of the fire is under police investigation.
According to Grenville village Fire Chief Stéphane Aubry, the fire department received a call at 4:26 am on Thursday, August 22 to a house fire at the corner of rue Queen (Route 344) and rue Maple (2e Concession).
Three people were inside the house and made it outside. One of the individuals was seriously injured and taken to hospital by ambulance, but with non-life-threatening injuries. Aubry said the Red Cross was contacted to assist one of the individuals.
Firefighters from Brownsburg-Chatham and Hawkesbury also assisted at the scene.
The fire was under control by 6:36 am and firefighters were at the scene until 11:30 am Thursday.
Aubry said the damage to the house was significant and it will likely be demolished.
The cause of the fire is considered suspicious and the Sûreté du Québec is investigating.
The property had been listed for sale with a sign promoting it as a good location for future commercial development.
