A small provincial cabinet shuffle in Ontario on Friday, August 16 resulted in a change of responsibilities for Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) Nolan Quinn.

Premier Doug Ford has selected Quinn as the new Minister of Colleges and Universities. The department oversees affairs associated with postsecondary education institutions in the province. Quinn was first elected as an MPP in 2022 and was appointed to cabinet on June 6, 2024 as Associate Minister of Forestry within the Ministry of Natural Resources.

The cabinet shuffle resulted from the August 16 announcement that Todd Smith was resigning as Minister of Education and MPP for Bay of Quinte. Jill Dunlop, who was previously Minister of Colleges and Universities, has been appointed as Minister of Education. Kevin Holland succeeds Quinn as Minister of Forestry.

Ford has also appointed a new associate minister to cabinet. Graham McGregor is now the Associate Minister of Auto Theft and Bail Reform within the Ministry of the Solicitor General.

All other provincial cabinet roles in Ontario are unchanged.
