Two municipalities and one local curling club are among Ontario Trillium Foundation grant recipients in the region receiving a total of $450,000.
The Ontario Trillium Foundation is an agency of the Government of Ontario which supports projects and facilities provided by community organizations and municipal governments across the province.
The Township of Alfred and Plantagenet has received $150,000 to increase the size and functionality of Larocque Skate Park to enhance outdoor recreation for youth and children in the area.
The Municipality of Casselman has received $140,000 for major improvements and renovations to the Paul-Émile Lévesque Community Centre.
The project includes the repair of the floor in the large hall, the installation of a new heating, ventilation and air conditioning system and the installation of LED lighting inside and out.
The project also aims to improve the accessibility at the community centre by installing ramps and accessible doors at the main entrance and washrooms. The municipality also plans to install a video surveillance system for security.
In Maxville, the Glengarry Curling Club has received $150,000 to replace the sand foundation under the rink surface with a new concrete pad for a smooth, level, better quality ice surface.
