On July 1, members of the Patrimoine L’Orignal-Longueuil Heritage unveiled a commemorative plaque at the Champlain Park Cenotaph in L’Orignal. This plaque honors the local veterans who served in the First World War (1914-1918) and the Second World War (1939-1945). Some never returned, but their personal sacrifices and experiences, shared by those who returned to their homeland, ensure that today’s generation can remember.
For these veterans, the phrase “Lest we forget” was not just a saying but a profound truth that became part of their daily lives, a reminder of the enduring impact of their sacrifices.
