Coral Proudfoot said she has never thought about her age.

The Vankleek Hill resident celebrated her 100th birthday on Sunday, July 28 with family and friends at St. John’s Parish Hall in Vankleek Hill.

“I never think of my birthday, I never think of my age,” remarked Proudfoot. Coral Terry was born in St-Bernardin in 1924, then lived in Fournier, but has called Vankleek Hill home for most of her long life. She and her husband John Proudfoot, who predeceased her in 1999, raised two children, Barrie Proudfoot, who lives in Vankleek Hill, and Carlotta Gates, who lives in Peace River, Alberta. Coral also has seven grandchildren. Both of her children and many of her grandchildren attended the birthday celebration.

Coral said she was happy to have her family together for the occasion. She smiled and her eyes lit up.

Coral said the world has changed a lot in the past 100 years.

“Things have come a long way,” she remarked.
