Public transportation for Lachute residents aged 65 or over is now free for passengers starting or ending their trip from city hall.

The city has collaborated with the MRC d’Argenteuil Transport Department, which operates public transit in the region, including paratransit and TaxiBus. Seniors will be able to plan their route from the 60 stops in Lachute but stop #20-69 (city hall) must however appear as a starting or ending point.

These trips are by reservation only and are carried out by taxi or minibus. Riders need to call 450 562-5797 or consult www.argenteuil.qc.ca for information. TaxiBus trips may also be booked online. All trips must be within the Lachute city limits.

“We are pleased to make our commitment a reality by offering free mobility for our seniors to and from rue Principale. In addition to facilitating their travels, the initiative helps to break isolation and allows them to actively participate in the life of the city center, while having easier access to municipal services. Our citizens are an integral part of our community, and we are happy to offer them this service,” said Lachute Mayor Bernard Bigras-Denis.
