There is a new way to explore Grenville Bay and the Grenville Canal!
The village of Grenville has partnered with Pad-Kay to offer self-serve kayak and paddleboard rentals. The rental site is located beside the boat ramp on rue Canal Nord. Two kayaks and two paddleboards are available for rental in Grenville.
Pad-Kay is a new company interested in growing its services.
“We approached the village,” said company President Sébastien Boisvert.
For Boisvert, Grenville is a particularly significant place to offer the rentals because he has family history in the village.
“When I was younger, I used to fish on the canal,” he said.
The kayak and paddleboard rentals in Grenville cost $15 per hour. When customers reserve online, they are given an access code for the locker where they are stored. Boisvert said the flexibility of the hourly rentals is good for people who do not own a kayak or paddleboard because they do not have the space at home to store one, cannot transport one on their vehicle, or need an extra one to use if heading out on the water in a group.
Conditions on Grenville Bay are good for novices and Grenville Canal conditions are best for experts. The rentals are available from 5 am to 9 pm daily until the end of September.
Boisvert said the rentals are already bringing more visitors to Grenville to explore the bay and canal.
Reservations must be made online at https://padkay.com/faire-une-r%C3%A9servation.
Pad-Kay also offers rentals in Prevost and is planning to expand to Montebello and Lac Simon.
