A well-recognized retired businessman and former municipal politician in Vankleek Hill has died.

Lynn St Denis died on June 19 at age 84.

St Denis was the third-generation of his family to own and operate the Windsor Tavern, which has been a landmark of Main Street in Vankleek Hill since 1907. The Windsor is now owned and operated by his two sons, Mike and Rob.

“A father figure to all. Thank you for paving the way. You were so loved, respected, and will be forever in our hearts,” is the message Mike and Rob posted on The Windsor’s Facebook page.

From 1968 to 1976, Lynn St Denis served as a member of Vankleek Hill town council. He became Reeve of Vankleek Hill in 1976 and served in that role until 1997. The Reeve was the town’s representative on United Counties of Prescott and Russell (UCPR) council in those days, and St Denis served as UCPR Warden in 1985.

St Denis is also survived by his wife Mirielle (Mimi), three grandchildren, a sister, and a brother.

The funeral arrangements for Lynn St Denis are entrusted to Hillcrest Funeral Home in Vankleek Hill.
