An annual walking parade that celebrates and promotes environmental awareness will take place in Vankleek Hill on Sunday, May 19.

Charlie’s Trees Parade, which began as the Gratitude for Earth Parade in 2022, will begin at 10 am at the The Creating Centre, at the corner of High and Main Streets.

Charlie is 11-year-old Charlie Kazak, who began an effort to plant trees and add more green to Vankleek Hill in 2021.

The parade encourages appreciation for the earth, trees, and life.

Parade participants are encouraged to show up with signs displaying words of love and hope. Everyone is encouraged to wear bright colours, costumes, and to bring musical instruments.

Participants will be able to take home a free tree to plant or may adopt a tree at the tree adoption table.

Charlie’s Trees Parade takes place at the same time as the May Show Festival, which will also be happening on Main Street in Vankleek Hill on Sunday, May 19.
