Students from Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute (VCI) and Glengarry District High School (GDHS) are among the 40 talented students from the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) who showcased their skills and dedication at the 2024 Skills Ontario Competition held in Toronto on May 6 and 7. These students, who had previously qualified at the SKLZ competitionSKLZ carpentry competitionSKLZ intermediate competition and the Skills Ontario Qualifier, demonstrated their expertise across various disciplines, representing the school board with pride.

In the Secondary Heavy Equipment Service event, Grade 12 VCI student Tyler Jones exhibited remarkable skill and precision, securing the gold medal in his category.

Among the standout performances, the Grade 7/8 Team of 4 from GDHS consisting of students Shahnoor Bajwa, Callan MacDonald, Shaelynn MacLeod and Mae Ella McCormick, excelled in the Green Energy category, winning the gold medal.

Additionally, Grade 11 GDHS student Cohen Williams demonstrated outstanding craftsmanship in the Secondary Individual Carpentry Competition, earning the silver medal.
