A Scarborough man is facing a series of criminal charges following a weapons incident at a school in South Glengarry. No students or staff were injured.
The Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to Holy Trinity Catholic School in South Glengarry shortly before 10:30 am on Monday, May 6. An individual was carrying an edged weapon and had threatened multiple persons. A Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW) was deployed to gain control of the individual, as a result, the male was arrested and charged.
The 35-years-old male of Scarborough was charged with:
- 266 Assault, two counts.
- Assault with A Weapon
- Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm
- Mischief – destroys or damages property
- Possession of imitation weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Causing a Disturbance
- Common Nuisance – cause physical harm
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall at a later date.
