How fines are managed and paid for municipal by-law infractions is changing in Alfred and Plantagenet.
On Tuesday, April 2, township council adopted a by-law changing how municipal by-law infractions are administered to an Administrative Monetary Payment System (AMPS).
Previously, by-law fines were administered by the Provincial Offences Court of the United Counties of Prescott and Russell. AMPS allows fines to be screened and collected directly by the township in a timelier manner.
In March 2024, the Town of Hawkesbury also adopted AMPS for the administration of municipal by-law fines.
